Our Wolfe’s Combatives offers regular - curriculum training. Students advance their skills and knowledge through Hard Target, Combat Technician, and S.T.A.R. (Special Tactics And Response).

All our instructors are certified by Mr. Wolfe to ensure you get the highest level of education.

A western System …… born from Military. Wolfe designed this accelerated learning process to best equipt’ you with skills you need in quick time. “ think about who needs to be trained up to combat speed in short order if not the military?”

The Rank structure is divided into 3 Combat effective levels.

At our Wolfe Combatives Academies you will excel though the levels at your own speed.

Each level is a unique stand alone program with rank qualifications and logical progression from one to the next.

Yes originally designed for the best trained army in the world “the Canadians” and this is reflected in our method of testing and rank structure “effective and to the point” because millions of man hours and dollars created the military version and further research and money has been invested in the police version a “2-year study P.O.P.A.T.” a process carried out by our founder in “1985”. Through Mr. Wolfe we have full access to this “military and police R & D” and it shows in the effectiveness of our training methods. So when we say our civilian students are well trained in a western based modern system we mean it!

Hard Target

Gets you comfortable with your ability to strike back. This is the first rank’ in our curriculum training. HT is spread over 25hours of training in school or offered as a 4 day course to get you up to speed.

You will learn the basics.

A bit of history… when Fairbarin brought Defend-u to Camp X in 1941 the system was adopted by the Canadian Army. His protégé Capt Pat O’Neil a very skilled Close Combat instructor was the head instructor for the famous First Special Service Force a Canadian/USA elite commando unit. O’Neil’s mission was to train this force in the basic’s and be able to fight with confidence far behind enemy lines. His methods are the bases for our Hard Target Program simple and effective building assertive confidence not for parachuting behind enemy lines but walking down the street in your own neighborhood. Mr. Wolfe learned the O’Neil method at the hands of his army instructor’s, veterans of the FSSF. Mr. Wolfe modernized the training and renamed the course “Hard Target” - a first line of defense! People world-wide who have taken other self defence training repeatedly tell us how unique this course is and how empowering it is to know Wolfe’s Combatives really can deliver realistic basic self defence education. In addition to learning simple effective self defence skills, you will also learn how to sustain a tactical mindset and a positive mind and body connection. From all perspectives you might consider this course to be quite elite but we consider it a first step a foundation on which to build.

This concept alone is so valuable that over the years' course participants have chosen to continue training after they graduate in other areas of Wolfe’s Combatives because it just makes sense and it’s fun.

Combat Technician

Welcome to Combat Tech, the second level in our 'Realistic Accelerated Education'

This rank is based on our more than 80 years of history as the first modern scientific mixed martial art. It is defined by 3 training levels based on grappling skills found in Judo, Jujitsu, western wrestling, boxing and kick boxing. It is not sports based and makes full use of dirty fighting tactics. You will be taught how to grapple standing facing the enemy, on the ground and rear ambush’s. You will be required to understand criminal violence and how to defeat it both tactically and mentally! This program is a fusion of our military and police training, re-designed to meet your needs.

Background brief:

Combat Tech curriculum is designed from the 2-year Canadian Police P.OP.PA.T. Study (1985). This study conducted by the Justice Institute of BC, Police Academy by world renowned police expert Mr. Farenhotz has been validated by the FBI and several other noted world-wide criminal justice studies looking into violence directed at law enforcement officers. Mr. Wolfe in collaboration with Mr. Farenhotz modernized the Canadian Police “Use of Force” training models to address the current level of violence used against law enforcement members. Hence was born as was this Combat Tech Program for law enforcement members. A further 1-year study validated this program for you.

Our goal is to build your assertive confidence and fitness level as you develop a solid street combative mindset! This course gets you ready for your next adventure or the next bump in the road that may come your way. You will learn how to deal with criminal violence and your own negative habits that might put you in 'Harms Way'. You are not a 'Super Trooper' yet but on graduation to the next level S.T.A.R you will be well on your way!

Special Tactics and Response

Continuing on with “this is not a sport” STAR Program builds off and honing the basics learned form Hard Target and Combat Tech STAR educates you to deal with street level weapons.

Special Tactics and Response training is the third level of Wolfe’s Combatives on going 'Accelerated Education’. You will have to earn this rank through a little sweat and pain. Sorry no magic answers or excuses you must be a graduate of the Combat Tech.

There are 2 levels within the S.T.A.R. program - ‘S.T.A.R’. and ‘Advanced S.T.A.R.’ In this program we are going to be working on in depth and very realistic weapons education based on current modern threat levels. You will have to master weapons handling, tactics, and mental awareness as well as address your own weak habitual habits that lead you into ‘harms way’. Sound too demanding? No worries by this point you will have the confidence and understanding of where we are coming from.

Here at Wolfe’s Combatives we interlock our education from top to bottom weapons last empty hand first we want you to have the confidence of knowing how to fight empty handed first because if you become disarmed your confidence it not in the weapon but in you! We learned to many hard lessons over the years training soldiers and police officers!
